NEXCO West Japan’s Kansai Branch and West Japan Expressway Services Holdings will close the Otsu Service Area on both directions of the Meishin Expressway (E1) from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on August 6.
This measure is being implemented in conjunction with the “2026 Lake Biwa Grand Fireworks Festival,” and during the closure period, neither the shops, restrooms, nor parking lot will be accessible. All vehicles currently parked on the premises must also leave before the closure takes effect.
Although the Otsu Interchange will remain open even while the SA is closed, severe traffic congestion is forecast on both the northbound and southbound lanes, and the company is urging drivers to exercise caution.
