The Oedo Onsen Monogatari Group is offering a “Shibayama-gata Kayak and SUP Experience Package” at three participating facilities in the Katayamazu Onsen area, located on the shores of Lake Shibayama-gata in Kaga City, Ishikawa Prefecture, through October 31 (the night course is available through August 30).
As the first installment of the company’s “Hokuriku Localization Project,” this initiative features a collaboration with “shibayama slow,” a local water sports shop, and “Katayamazu Onsen Sōyu,” a day-trip hot spring facility renowned for its beautiful all-glass architecture. The hotel for this stay is “Oedo Onsen Monogatari Nagayama.” You can choose from “Oedo Onsen Monogatari Premium Kaga Maruya” or “Oedo Onsen Monogatari Wanwan Resort Yada-ya Shoto-en.”
The highlight of this plan is a roughly 60-minute kayaking and SUP experience on Shibayama-gata, a famous spot in Katayamazu Onsen. From the water, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the sacred Mount Hakusan, the sky tinged red by the setting sun, and get a close-up look at fireworks and wild birds. You can savor the leisurely pace of time while experiencing the different atmospheres that change with the time of day—from the tranquility of the morning to the sense of openness during the day.
The lake is calm with few waves, so even beginners and children can participate with confidence, and you can even bring your dog along for the kayaking experience.
The “Daytime Course” (4,500 yen for ages 3 and up; 2,650 yen for ages 5–12), which includes a kayak or SUP experience from early morning through evening along with a free admission ticket to the Katayamazu Onsen Sōyu public bath and a face towel, and the “Night Course,” (7,000 yen for ages 13 and up; 5,500 yen for ages 5–12; available only at Oedo Onsen Monogatari Nagayama; does not include a Sōyu bath ticket). The fees for each experience will be added to the hotel room rate.
