On July 28, in conjunction with the “60th Katsushika Summer Fireworks Festival,” extensive traffic restrictions will be in effect around the venue—the “Katsushika Ward Shibamata Baseball Stadium” on the banks of the Edogawa River (7-17-13 Shibamata, Katsushika Ward, Tokyo).
On public roads on the Katsushika Ward side, “Edogawa-dote-dori,” “Takasago-dori,” and “Kyū-Kawajin-dori” will be closed to traffic from 5:30 p.m. to around 10:00 p.m. Visitors without reserved-seat tickets will be directed to the general admission areas on the upstream side (nearest to Kanamachi Station) and the downstream side (nearest to Shin-Shibamata Station); however, viewing the event or stopping on the Mito Kaido (Shin-Katsushika Bridge) is prohibited. In addition, since “Shinsui Sakura Kaido” near Koiwa 8-chome is expected to be extremely crowded, visitors are advised to take a detour via other roads.
On the opposite bank in Matsudo, Chiba Prefecture, the Edogawa Line Golf Matsudo Course and the embankment walkway (bicycle path) will be closed to the public all day, and the road along the base of the embankment will be closed to vehicular traffic from 5:30 p.m. to around 10:00 p.m.
In addition, during restricted hours, non-residents are prohibited from entering the area by car or motorcycle. Delivery vehicles of all kinds are also subject to these restrictions, and bicycles (including motorized ones) are not permitted to enter; riders must dismount and walk their bicycles.
On that day, Keisei Electric Railway (between Keisei Takasago and Keisei Kanamachi) and Hokuso Railway (between Keisei Takasago and Inzai Makinohara) will each operate special trains. Local buses will run as usual.
The fireworks display will take place from 7:20 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. This year, marking the 60th anniversary of the event, approximately 20,000 fireworks will be launched, and a drone show is also scheduled.
