On July 21, Workman launched “Mediheal Cosmos,” a new line of recovery wear designed to offer a higher level of luxury and comfort. I picked up a pair right away at a store in Tokyo, so here are my thoughts after actually wearing them.
This time, I bought a women’s long-sleeve crew-neck top (2,900 yen) and long pants (2,900 yen), as well as a men’s long-sleeve crew-neck top (2,900 yen) and long pants (2,900 yen). I chose the same color for both the top and bottom—sax for the women’s items and navy for the men’s.
Regarding Workman’s Recovery Wear, the reporter owns several items for loungewear, including the women’s spring/summer ROOM Series (long-sleeve shirts and long pants) and the Pile Series (zip-up hoodies and pants). However, because the garments promote blood circulation—which causes her to sweat profusely after taking a bath—she has been wearing them less frequently since before Golden Week.
However, the key feature of this product is that it retains the characteristics of conventional medical recovery wear—which supports “fatigue recovery just by wearing it” through the blood circulation-boosting effects of far-infrared rays—while incorporating “Outlast,” a temperature-regulating technology developed for NASA.
The Outlast technology—microcapsules embedded in the fabric—absorbs excess heat when it’s hot and releases stored heat when it’s cold, maintaining a comfortable temperature inside the garment.
Thinking, “Maybe I could wear the Mediheal Cosmos even in the middle of summer…!” I decided to buy one this time and try it on right after getting home, while I was still dripping with sweat. The fabric is just the right thickness to wear on its own when going out, and the 100% cotton surface feels smooth to the touch.
I walked around the house for about five minutes while wearing them, and even though they don’t have a cooling function, for some reason my sweat just seemed to fade away. Even when I turned the air conditioner down as low as it would go, I didn’t feel like I was going to get chilled from the sweat, and compared to the short-sleeved, shorts-style pajamas I usually wear, the Mediheal Cosmos were “more comfortable to wear.”
For the top and bottom sizes, I chose Women’s L/XL and Men’s L/M based on the sizes of the clothes I usually wear (I’m 166 cm tall and typically wear L–XL), but I found that a snug fit kept me more comfortable than a slightly looser one.
These long pants have two pockets, and the waist can be fine-tuned with a drawstring. Since the built-in elastic is fairly loose, you might want to choose a size that fits just right around the hips or is slightly smaller.
The product has been rolling out to stores nationwide since late July, and as of July 21, we confirmed that it was in stock at several stores in the Tokyo metropolitan area. Pre-orders began on July 21 at the official online store, with shipments scheduled to be made by the end of September (in-store pickup only).
I’ve already pre-ordered a women’s two-piece set online. Until I actually tried it on, I was thinking, “If it turns out to be too hot, I’ll just tuck it away in my closet until fall,” but now I plan to pick up another one in a different color at the store as early as tomorrow so I can rotate them. I want to take it not only for home but also to the gym and on business trips.
