On July 14, Akihiko Tanaka, President of JICA, met at JICA headquarters with Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, former President of Tanzania and Chair of the Board of Directors of the Global Partnership for Education (GPE)—the world’s largest international trust fund for educational cooperation in developing countries.
At the outset, Chairman Tanaka welcomed Chairman Kikwete, who was visiting for the first time since March of last year. He then stated that education is an area of cooperation for JICA that is directly linked to human security, and that collaboration with the GPE is of great significance.
In response, Chairperson Kikwete stated that Japan is an important partner for GPE and that he would like to deepen cooperation with JICA.
