A new elevator will be installed on the Shinkansen North Exit ticket gate side at Shinagawa Station, with an eye toward the completion of the “North Exit Station Plaza” in fiscal year 2027.

JR Central will install a new elevator inside the North Exit ticket gates (toward Tokyo) at Shinagawa Station on the Tokaido Shinkansen line.

One elevator each will be installed on the upbound and downbound sides to connect the ticket gate and concourse level with the platform level. Construction will begin this July, with the goal of opening the elevators by the end of fiscal year 2027. Note that a total of two elevators have already been installed inside the South Exit ticket gate area.

With the completion of the “North Exit Station Plaza” at Shinagawa Station scheduled for fiscal year 2027, and given that changes in passenger flow are expected at Shinagawa Station on the Tokaido Shinkansen line, the station will implement barrier-free improvements and other measures to further enhance convenience.
