Takarajimasha Releases “JR East Midori Station Clock” That Glows in the Dark; Alarms Feature Authentic Departure Melodies “Seisera” and “Spring”

Takarajimasha will release the mook “JR East Edition: Midori Station Clock BOOK 2—Glows in the Dark! Fluorescent Color Ver.” on September 14. The price is 3,422 yen. It will be available at bookstores and online retailers.

An alarm clock that faithfully reproduces the “Green Station Clock” often seen at train stations. This second edition features a fluorescent version where the numbers on the dial and the hands glow in the dark. The alarm features the departure melody produced by Unipex, which is actually used at stations on the JR Yamanote Line and elsewhere. You can switch between two sound sources—the classic tunes “Seseragi” and “Spring”—using a switch.

The second hand features a sweep movement that minimizes noise. While it’s perfect for use on a nightstand or desk, it also has a hole on the back for hanging it on a hook, allowing you to enjoy it as a wall clock as well. The clock measures approximately 134 × 41 × 100 mm (width × depth × height).

The first installment, “JR East Midori Station Clock BOOK” (3,422 yen), now on sale, features the sound of a real, loud departure bell. The publisher also recommends displaying the two alarm clocks side by side.
