From Da Nang to Hoi An. It’s fun to stop by stylish shops along the way. Since I’m staying in Hoi An, it’s no problem to take a detour in Da Nang on the way. So, I decided to make a few stops along the way. This time, I visited two shops run by Japanese owners. On the way, I also took some photos at a scenic spot on My Khe Beach under a clear blue sky. If you head out first thing in the morning, there are fewer tourists, so you can practically have the massive monument all to yourself. First, we went to the select shop “Sunglow.” In response to customer requests for “more wonderful, unique souvenirs,” the Japanese owner carefully selects and stocks items from all over Vietnam. The shop’s appeal lies in its wide range of products, from coffee grown on a farm run by the staff’s family to Vietnam-Japan collaboration items. Right next door is the onigiri shop “ONIGIRI CAFE NGON.” Next up is “taran.”, a brand specializing in organic cosmetics. Its products, made with Vietnamese tamanu oil, have gained a loyal following. The Hoi An store is located in a quiet residential neighborhood, offering a carefully curated space where you can take your time selecting items. The most popular item is the TAMANU SERUM. Many customers also pick up the bath salts and face masks in the center of the store, which they can mix and match themselves. In addition, there’s a wide variety of roll-on essential oils with light, delicate scents. There’s even a selection of accessories in the back—you’ll never have enough time to see it all!
It’s hot out—so what better way to cool off than with a coconut boat ride! On the third day of our stay, the temperature easily exceeded 36°C even in the morning. It was definitely a bit too hot… so we decided to hop on the famous coconut boat and enjoy a moment of refreshment. We visited “Bay Mau Coconuts Forest.” It’s an ecotourism facility about a 15-minute drive from Hoi An’s Old Town. All you need is the village entrance fee (30,000 VND) and the cost of a two-person coconut boat ride (160,000 VND + tip). Don’t forget to exchange your money for cash in advance. By the way, the restrooms were very clean.
