Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort nears completion of complete renovation. Auana at Silk begins to subscribe to the music.

Outrigger Resorts & Hotels had officials visit Japan in conjunction with the Aloha Fest at Yebisu Garden Place to explain the renewal of their facilities.

Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort, the company’s iconic beachfront hotel, is currently undergoing a $100 million renovation that includes the remodeling of all 524 guest rooms, the addition of two new Presidential Suites, and the renovation of public areas and expansion of the Club lounge is being expanded. The renovation of the guestrooms area is expected to be completed in August/September, and the public areas in November/December (before Christmas).

The hotel was built on a site where surfers used to wait for the waves, and the entire hotel concept is based on the importance of surf culture. The Presidential Suite also takes this into account, with two suites named after legendary surfers Duke Kahanamoku and Tokyo Olympic surfing gold medalist Carissa Moore.

Renovations are also underway at facilities on neighboring islands, including the Outrigger Kaanapali Beach Resort on Maui, which has completed renovations to guest rooms. All work, including public spaces, is expected to be completed in 2027.

At the Outrigger Kauai Beach Resort & Spa on Kauai, a new restaurant in partnership with Roy Yamaguchi will open in June. The renovation will be completed in about two weeks after that.

Outrigger Kona Resort & Spa on the Big Island of Hawaii has completed a complete renovation of its guest rooms, lobby, and pool, leaving only the restaurant. Dukes Kona is scheduled to open its first restaurant on the Big Island of Hawaii this summer, offering island-style cuisine featuring local ingredients and seafood, as well as tropical cocktails.

Explaining the renovations, Executive Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer Sean P. Dee said that while other Hawaii properties are only recovering 50% from their pre-Corona 2019 levels, Outrigger Resorts & Hotels is back up to 70%, and that direct bookings are particularly strong. He also noted that while other Hawaii properties are recovering only 50% from their pre-Corona levels in 2019, Outrigger Resorts & Hotels is back up to 70%, and direct bookings are particularly strong. As the word “barefoot” implies, the new hotel is not intended to be formal or stuffy, but rather to offer guests “a more intimate, relaxed, and personalized luxury experience.

Ray Mark, Marketing Director of “Cirque du Soleil Auana,” was also in Japan for the Aloha Fest, and revealed that the opening song of Auana, for which he had received many inquiries, is now available on various streaming services.

Auana is Cirque du Soleil’s well-known permanent performance at the Outrigger Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel, which will have its world premiere in December 2024.

Cirque du Soleil was originally inspired by its founder, who was impressed by the beauty of the sun setting over the horizon during a trip to the Big Island of Hawaii, and Auana was created as a return to the roots of the company’s 40th anniversary.

The Auana, which was conceived five years ago and construction began two years ago, incorporates a great deal of local talent, with 14 of the 34 performers on its roster being from Hawaii. Auana also has a “water” motif from Cirque du Soleil O at the Bellagio in Las Vegas and a “fire” motif from Cirque du Soleil Car at the MGM Grand, Auana’s focus on location (Hawaii) is a major difference.

Only one opening track was made available on the streaming service at the end of May, but all 16 tracks are expected to be available by the end of summer.
