On April 21, Mitsui Fudosan announced that it will name the district “Tokyo Midtown Nihonbashi” for the Type 1 urban redevelopment project in the Nihonbashi 1-chome-middle area, with construction scheduled for completion at the end of September 2026 and full opening in the fall of 2027.
Within the Nihonbashi River Walk, an integrated redevelopment area along the Nihonbashi River, the entire city block of the Nihonbashi 1-chome-middle area Type 1 Urban Area Redevelopment Project will be called Tokyo Midtown Nihonbashi. The main tower is “Nihonbashi Nomura Mitsui Tower” (commonly known as “The Tower”), with 52 floors above ground and 5 floors below, and is 284 meters high.
The Tower will include one of the area’s largest office zones (10F-38F), commercial facilities (B1-3F), and Hilton’s top luxury hotel, the Waldorf Astoria Tokyo Nihonbashi (39F-47F). In addition, the Waldorf Astoria Residence Tokyo Nihonbashi (48th to 51st floors), a residential complex bearing the Waldorf Astoria brand, and a MICE facility (5th to 7th floors) with a capacity of 1,600 people are scheduled to move in.
The Nihonbashi 1-chome Mitsui Building, which includes the COREDO Nihonbashi commercial facility in the lower level, is also included in the Tokyo Midtown Nihonbashi area, and COREDO Nihonbashi will temporarily close in October 2026 in preparation for renewal.
