Kinki Nippon Railway will begin operating its new Series 6A general service trains on May 19. Three 4-car trains will be introduced in FY2026 and two 4-car trains in FY2027 on the Minami Osaka Line, Yoshino Line, Nagano Line, and Gosho Line.
Like the Series 8A and Series 1A, it is equipped with long/cross-seat conversion, a “Yasashiba” space for strollers and large luggage, a large display above the doors, and in-car security cameras (4 locations per car), The trains are also equipped with large displays above the doors, in-car security cameras (four per car), and emergency intercom systems (two per car) that connect the train crew. In addition, when the 6A Series is operated alone, a switch that allows passengers to open and close the doors individually will be enabled to keep the interior warm.
Also, on June 1, the company will launch “Suwareru,” its first paid seat reservation service using Series 6A trains. The service covers the first car of the express train bound for Yoshino that departs from Osaka Abenobashi Station at 6:50 p.m. on weekday evenings.
Applications are accepted on the Suwareru reservation website and go on sale at 5:30 a.m. on the day of the ride.
