Based on a request from the Government of the Republic of the Philippines to the Government of Japan, JICA dispatched a team of experts from the Japan Disaster Relief teams to respond to a fire at a sanitary landfill facility in Navotas City.

Departure of the International Emergency Relief Team of Experts
On the morning of Thursday, April 23, the members of the team of experts gathered at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for a formation ceremony. At the ceremony, the Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Philippine Ambassador to Japan gave words of encouragement.
Then, at 18:55, a passenger plane carrying the expert team members and equipment to be used for local activities departed Narita Airport. The aircraft is scheduled to arrive at Ninoy Aquino (Manila) International Airport at 23:40 JST (22:40 local time) on Thursday, April 23.
