All-day traffic restrictions on Tohoku, Hachinohe, and Joban Expressways after May. Traffic congestion of over 5km is expected on Sendai Miyagi IC to Tomiya JCT mainly on weekdays.

NEXCO East Japan Tohoku Branch Office will restrict traffic on some sections of the Tohoku Expressway (E4), Hachinohe Expressway (E4A), and Ban-Etsu Expressway (E49) throughout the day due to highway renewal work that will begin in May and later.

The main restricted sections and periods are: Kitakami Kanegasaki IC to Hanamaki Minami IC up/down (May 7 to August 5), Sendai Miyagi IC to Tomiya JCT (May 11 to July 16), Shiroishi IC to Kunimi IC up/down (May 11 to August 3), Kuwari JCT to Kunimi IC up/down (May 11 to July 31) and others.

Of these, the Sendai-Miyagi Interchange to Tomiya JCT is expected to be congested for more than 5 km mainly on weekdays, while the rest of the route is expected to be congested for more than 5 km mainly on weekends and holidays.

In this project, concrete slabs damaged by aging will be replaced with new, more durable prestressed concrete slabs, and the slabs will be waterproofed to prevent deterioration.
