Starlux Airlines launches new Narita – Taichung route. Direct flights to the birthplace of tapioca milk tea, home to the popular reflection spot Miyahara Eye Clinic.

This will be the only direct flight between the Tokyo metropolitan area and Taichung, a city in central Taiwan, with four flights a week. The aircraft is an Airbus A321neo with 188 seats (8 business and 180 economy). On the same day, a ceremony was held in front of Gate 66 at Narita Airport’s Terminal 2 to commemorate the inaugural flight.

Flight JX315: Departs Narita (15:30) – Taichung (18:10), Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday

Departs at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays and at 4:30 p.m. on Saturdays

Flight JX314: Taichung (09:30) to Narita (14:00), Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday

Mr. Wang Yun-Shang, President of Starlux Airlines Japan, who took the stage at the ceremony, said, “The Narita-Taichung route is the 16th Japanese route that we operate and the 5th route to/from Taichung. We are pleased to launch this route as the only direct scheduled flight from the Tokyo metropolitan area to Central Taiwan.

About Taichung’s attractions, he said, “Taichung is a fascinating city where modern urban life, culture, and art are in harmony. It is known as the birthplace of tapioca milk tea and is well known as a gourmet city,” and concluded, “We hope you will enjoy the comfortable service provided by Starlux Airlines on board our flights to Taichung.

The next speaker was Mr. Shao-Shun Wang, Director of the Taiwan Tourism Agency and Taiwan Tourism Association Tokyo Office. He introduced Taichung as “a city of music and art, where fashionable new culture is alive and well, such as the Miyahara Eye Clinic, an Instagram-worthy spot that is very popular among Japanese young people. He also congratulated Starlux on the new service.

Mr. Yuichi Nakata, General Manager of Airline Sales Department, Narita International Airport, who spoke on behalf of Narita International Airport, concluded his speech by saying, “With the addition of the Taichung route, passengers will be able to enjoy a round trip tour of both Taipei and Taichung starting from Narita Airport. The new route will expand new travel styles combining Taipei, with its concentration of urban attractions, and Taichung, with its harmony of industry and culture,” he said.

The ceremony ended with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by the guests and organizers. During the boarding ceremony, the company’s CA handed out commemorative gifts to the passengers. After receiving a congratulatory water arch, JX315 took off for Taichung with 145 passengers on board.

Starlux Airlines will also begin direct flights from Kumamoto to Taichung on March 31.
