Scoot to Launch Haneda-Singapore Route, Bringing Japan Route to 45 Flights per Week; One-way Sale Starting March 5 at 17,000 yen and Up

Scoot held a press conference in Tokyo on February 27 to explain its global strategy and the Japanese market. The company is preparing to launch its Haneda-Singapore route later in the week on March 2. The speakers were Calvin Chan, Scoot’s Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), and Hidetoshi Yasutake, the company’s Japan Regional Director.

Scoot was established in 2011, started its first flight in June 2012, and currently operates more than 80 routes in 18 countries and regions, mainly in Southeast Asia. In Japan, it just opened a new route between Naha and Singapore on December 15.

Scoot’s fleet can be divided into three main categories: the Boeing 787-8, the Airbus A320 family, and the Embraer E190-E2, with the average age of the aircraft being over five years. A320ceo/neo with 180-186 seats for up to 5 hours, and Embraer E190-E2 with 112 seats for up to 5 hours.

Since Scoot is a subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, it also participates in the group’s frequent flyer program, KrisFlyer. For every 1 KrisFlyer mile accumulated on a Scoot flight, passengers can earn 2.5 elite miles, which will help them achieve senior member status with Singapore Airlines.

Mr. Yasutake explained the current situation in the Japanese market, noting that with the opening of the Haneda-Singapore route in March, there will be 45 weekly flights to five destinations, making it the third largest airline in the world in terms of the scale of supply to a single country. While understanding that the Haneda route arrives in Japan at 1:00 a.m. and departs at 2:15 a.m., making it difficult to use public transportation, Yasutake said that the flight arrives in Singapore at 8:30 a.m., allowing passengers to make the most of their day from the day of arrival, and also making it convenient for transfers to destinations beyond Singapore.

To commemorate the Haneda route launch, a sale is scheduled from March 5 to 15 for Singapore, Sydney, Bali, and Koh Samui, with special fares starting at 17,000 yen one-way and other special offers. Details will be announced later.
