Mitsui Garden Hotels sequence, iPhone and Apple Watch “wallets” as room keys.

Mitsui Fudosan and Mitsui Fudosan Hotel Management started providing a room key service using Apple Wallet for guests at Mitsui Garden Hotel Ginza Premier, sequence MIYASHITA PARK, and sequence SUIDOBASHI on March 4. The company started providing room key services for guests using Apple Wallet at “Mitsui Garden Hotel Ginza Premier,” “sequence MIYASHITA PARK” and “sequence SUIDOBASHI.

This service allows guests to unlock guest rooms, elevators, and common areas simply by holding their iPhone or Apple Watch over the NFC-enabled lock on the door. This eliminates the need to carry a physical key card and provides a seamless and secure stay experience.

To use the service, you must pre-register through the MGH Rewards Club app. Once check-in is completed and the room is ready, the room key in the Apple Wallet is activated and the room number is displayed.

In terms of functionality, the system supports “Express Mode,” which does not require the device to be unlocked, and has an “automatic reserve power function” that allows the device to be unlocked for a certain period of time even when it runs out of charge. In addition, the key information in the Apple Wallet can be remotely updated by hotel staff in the event of an extended stay or room change.

For security, Vingcard’s cloud-based management solution, Vostio Access Management, is used. Usage history is not shared with Apple or stored on the company’s servers.

In addition, the company claims that the use of disposable plastic room keys can be reduced, thereby contributing to a reduction in environmental impact.

Currently, the system is being introduced at three facilities, but the company plans to gradually expand the number of facilities covered by the system under the Mitsui Garden Hotels, The Celestine Hotels, and Consequence brands.
