Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has taken disciplinary action against a staff member and others.

1. Person subject to disciplinary action: Key personnel (equivalent to section chief level) working in Japan (at the time)

Disciplinary action: Reduction in salary

3. Date of disposal: March 13, 2026

4. Summary of the case:

The subject of the disciplinary action was confirmed to have said or done something that constituted sexual harassment to the person concerned. In addition, it was confirmed that the subject of the disciplinary action had conducted inappropriate processing in administrative procedures in the course of his/her duties. Since these facts fall under Article 5 (Prevention of Sexual Harassment), Article 77, Paragraph 1, Item 1 (when a law or other OIST regulation is violated), and Article 77, Paragraph 1, Item 3 (when an act that may damage OIST’s credibility is committed) of the Employment Regulations for JICA Employees (2003 Regulation (Personnel) No. 5), disciplinary action has been taken. (2) Disciplinary action taken against the applicant.
