Morishia Tsudanuma” at the south exit of JR Tsudanuma Station will reopen for business in the fall of 2028. Nomura Real Estate: “We are not canceling the redevelopment.”

Nomura Real Estate announced that “Morisia Tsudanuma,” a commercial facility that had been closed for reconstruction, will partially reopen for business in the “Tsudanuma Station South Exit Area Type 1 Urban Redevelopment Project” that had been postponed (temporarily suspended) at the south exit of JR Tsudanuma Station.

The reopening is scheduled for the fall of 2028. The floors to be reopened are the lower floors from B1 to B2 (excluding the restaurant and office buildings), and the B2 parking garage and multi-level parking garage (only the multi-level parking garage will reopen by the end of 2026). The redevelopment will be temporarily suspended for approximately 10 years after the reopening.

The original urban plan released in October 2024 called for the construction of a new complex (retail, theater, office, and tower condominium) with two basement floors to 52 stories above ground, but due to the failure to select a specific business agent and soaring construction costs, in January 2025, the procedures for approval of the redevelopment project were temporarily The decision was made to suspend the process for approval of the redevelopment project in January 2025.

MORISIA Tsudanuma was once closed at the end of March 2025 due to redevelopment, but was considering partially reopening in light of the possibility of a prolonged period of temporary suspension due to redevelopment. The facility is more than 45 years old, and many of the building’s facilities and equipment have deteriorated and are defective, so even if the facility continues to operate, it will be necessary to limit the scope of reopening to a limited area and conduct long-term renovation work.

In a written report from Nomura Real Estate to Narashino City, it is emphasized that “there is no intention to cancel the redevelopment project, and when the project is expected to be restarted, we will obtain the consent of your city (Narashino City) and other right holders, and resume various procedures to obtain project approval. The company will resume the project after obtaining the consent of the right holders, including your city (Narashino City).

In response to the report, Narashino City commented that it will begin designing a large-scale renovation of the Narashino Cultural Hall, which is housed in Morisia Tsudanuma, so that it can resume use during FY2028.
