The Metropolitan Expressway will light down three bridges (Rainbow Bridge, Yokohama Bay Bridge, and Tsurumi Bridge) from 20:30 to 21:30 on March 28.
People around the world will turn off their lights at the same time on the same day to participate in EARTH HOUR 2026, an international environmental action to prevent global warming and conserve biodiversity.
The three bridges of the Metropolitan Expressway are usually lit up and illuminated from sunset (about 30 minutes after sunset for the Rainbow Bridge) to 24:00. This one-hour light-down is expected to save about 370 kWh, equivalent to one month’s electricity consumption by one average household, for a total reduction of about 0.16 tons of CO emissions by approximately 0.16 tons.
