Osaka Metro completes installation of platform doors at all 134 stations, reducing the number of accidents involving falls and fender-benders by 90% over the past 20 years.

Osaka Metro (Osaka City Rapid Transit) will complete the installation of platform doors and movable platform railings on all lines and at all stations with the scheduled start of operation at Yao Minami Station on March 18.

The New Tram and Imazatosuji Line have been in service since their inception, and the other lines have been upgraded sequentially since the 2010s during the Osaka Municipal Transportation Bureau era. The Tanimachi Line will be the last line to be upgraded, and as mentioned above, the upgrade will be completed with the start of operations at Yao Minami Station.

The company has a total of 134 stations, the largest number of stations among railroad companies in the Kansai region that have completed the installation of platform doors. As a result of the installation, the number of accidents involving falls and fender-benders has decreased by more than 90% compared to 2006.
