Walking access to the east side of Takanawa Gateway Station has been improved since the end of March. It is now possible to get to the ward road under the viaduct without going out to National Road No. 15.

Tokyo’s Minato Ward will change the route of the pedestrian route from March 28 to coincide with the ongoing construction of the second east-west connecting road that crosses under the railroad tracks near Takanawa Gateway Station.

The Takanawa-bashi viaduct connecting east and west across the railroad tracks is being developed as a new second east-west connecting road to improve access.

Currently, to access this road from Takanawa Gateway Station, one must exit onto Route 15 on the west side of the station. A pathway connecting directly to the road in front of the station (auxiliary street No. 332) will open on March 28, allowing access without detouring to the west side of the station.

Traffic will remain on this route until the end of FY2026. Before the change, the flow line of the temporary corridor will be partially changed on March 20 as well.
