JR East Cross Station Retail Company will release “Suica no Penguin Shichimi Garam Masala Can” on March 14. The price is 800 yen and the quantity is limited.
A collaboration product between Nemoto Hachimanya Isogoro, a long-established shichimi store that has been in business for 290 years, and Suica’s Penguin. The side of the can features a Suica penguin and a baby penguin riding a white elephant with a turban wrapped around them, and the lid features a Suica penguin serving a curry set.
Shichimi Garam Masala (12 g) is an ethnic mixed spice that utilizes the roasting technology of Nemoto Hachimanya Iso Goro. It contains chili pepper (Chinese and Japanese), cumin, coriander, black pepper, clove, cinnamon, and chenbin, and can be used to adjust the spiciness of curry and other dishes.
Sold at NewDays, NewDays Mini, and NewDays KIOSK stores in Nagano Prefecture (as of March 10, no plans to sell at Hachimanya Isogoro stores). They are also recommended as souvenirs and small gifts for family and friends who like spicy food.
