JR West Japan announced that it will extend the sales period of the “JR West Japan QR 2-Day Pass,” which allows unlimited travel in the Kinki area for two days, until March 30, 2027. The fare is 4,000 yen for adults and 2,000 yen for children. The pass is only available on the “KANSAI MaaS” website and smartphone application.

The service is available for non-reserved seats in ordinary cars of ordinary trains (including Shinkaisoku and Kaisoku trains) on JR lines. The free tour section is wide, from Himeji in the west to Nagahama in the east, and can be used not only in the Osaka suburbs but also in the Nara and Wakayama areas. The regular fare from Osaka to Himeji is 1,460 yen one-way for adults (about 1 hour by Shin-Kaisoku), so 4,000 yen for two days is considered a very reasonable fare.

Limited express trains and Shin-Kaisoku A-seat (paid seat service) are also available by using ticketless type limited express tickets and reserved seat tickets together only within the applicable area. However, the facilities of Sunrise Seto, Sunrise Izumo, WEST EXPRESS Ginga, and Hanaakari are not available.

Tickets can be purchased from 10:00 a.m. one month prior to the date of use. The period of use is until March 31, 2027. KANSAI MaaS membership registration is required to purchase tickets, and payment can only be made by credit card. When boarding, passengers must display the QR code from the ticket screen of the application (website) and hold it over the corresponding ticket gate.
