Capella Kyoto” opens for the first time in Japan. 89 rooms in total, 29 suites, 3 Michelin star “Single Thread” dining room.

NTT Urban Development has set March 22 as the opening date for Capella Kyoto (130 Komatsu-cho, Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture).

Located in Miyagawa-cho, Kyoto’s flower district, not far from Kenninji Temple and the Kamo River. It is the first Capella Hotels & Resorts property in Japan, with a total of 89 rooms designed in the image of traditional machiya townhouses. The hotel will be managed by NTT Urban Development Hotel Management and operated by Capella Hotel Group.

Of the 89 guest rooms, 29 are suites, including two Gion Suites facing Kenninji Temple, six Onsen Suites with hot spring baths, and the 206m2 Capella Suite on the top floor overlooking the Higashiyama ridge line. The hotel also offers a variety of other types of rooms, including deluxe city rooms and premier theater rooms with a view of the Miyagawa-machi Opera House.

Dining options include the signature restaurant “SoNoMa by SingleThread,” kappo-style night dining “Yoi,” and French brasserie “Lanterne,” which reinterprets Italian cafe culture.

SoNoMa by SingleThread was created in collaboration with SingleThread, a Michelin three-star restaurant based in Sonoma, California, offering courses featuring Kyoto vegetables and Northern California ingredients at a 12-seat counter.

Single Thread owner Kyle Connaughton and owner/head farmer Katina Connaughton have built relationships with Japanese food culture and producers through past stays and collaborations in Japan, and have chosen Capella Kyoto as the restaurant’s first Japanese and first overseas location.

In addition, the 20-seat lounge bar will offer a selection of Old World, California, and Japanese wines, sake, and Kansai sake, and the building’s pastry store will offer seasonal sweets and light meals both in the restaurant and for takeout.

In addition, there will be a natural hot spring, the “Auriga Spa” where you can enjoy signature treatments, and banquet facilities. The hotel will also offer the opportunity to experience the traditional world of Kyoto through its unique cultural program, Capella Curates.

In addition, the hotel is offering a lodging plan to commemorate its opening. Reservations can be made through the hotel’s website or by calling the room reservation section at 06-6949-9035.
