JR West Japan SC Kaihatsu, operator of LUCUA Osaka, announced that its new building, LUCUA SOUTH (3-1-1 Umeda, Kita-ku, Osaka City), will open on April 5.
The new building will occupy the 10th to 16th floors of the South Gate Building directly connected to JR Osaka Station, which is currently undergoing a large-scale renovation in conjunction with JR West Station City and the Daimaru Matsuzakaya Department Store. This will create a three-building structure consisting of LUCUA, LUCUA Elee, and LUCUA SOUTH.
The plan was originally envisioned for the 10th to 15th floors when it was announced last year, but the 16th floor, currently operated as “Osaka Ekiue Dining Ichiroku Gourmet”, will be taken over from JR West Station City and integrated as “LUCUA SOUTH”. 34 stores will continue to operate on the 13th to 16th floors when it opens on April 5. In the fall of 2026, 29 new stores will open in the second phase. The second phase will begin in the fall of 2026 with the opening of 29 new stores, followed by phased renovations and the introduction of new stores, with the full opening scheduled for 2027.
The new LUCUA SOUTH building will feature LUCUA CHARACTERS WORLD (10-13F), one of the largest character zones in Japan, and LUCUA SOUTH DINING (14-16F), a diverse restaurant zone, as the two pillars of the building. The total floor space is approximately 35,000m². The total floor area is approximately 35,000 m2, and the retail space is approximately 20,000 m2.
