Airbnb has launched the “Book Now, Pay Later” option, which does not require payment at the time of booking eligible accommodations, to users in Japan.
This option is available at participating accommodations worldwide that have a “normal” or “flexible” cancellation policy. Guests are not required to pay the full amount of their stay until shortly before the end of the free cancellation period, making this option ideal for groups of friends who want to split the cost of their stay, or for those who want to manage their budgets in a planned manner.
In addition, since the payment from the guest is always made before the end of the free cancellation period, the host has time to secure another reservation in the unlikely event that the guest cancels.
Other options include “partial immediate payment and deferred payment of the remaining balance,” which allows guests to pay a portion of the fee at the time of reservation and the remainder prior to check-in, providing flexibility in payment options.
