Weekend Ekiben] Shin-Osaka Station “Kanimeshi (Crabmeat) 2-tiered Stack

I was just in Osaka on business the other day and decided to visit Osaka again. Since I chose a meat ekiben last time, I decided to go for seafood this time, so I went to Shin-Osaka Station to look for an ekiben. Since I was in Osaka, I thought I would probably choose seafood from the Seto Inland Sea, but what I found myself holding in my hand was the “Kanimeshi Nidanjyu (crabmeat)” that I chose this time.

As the name suggests, this is a luxurious two-tiered ekiben. The upper tier contains side dishes, while the lower tier contains crab flakes and crab rice with crab claws.

The main dish, crab rice, was so fragrant that the aroma of crab wafted through the air from the moment it was opened, and that alone was enough to whet one’s appetite. The rice is cooked in a crab-flavored soy sauce, and is covered with a layer of crab meat and two pieces of claw meat, which looks gorgeous.

When served with rice, the crab pieces fill your mouth with the delicious flavor of the crab. The soy-sauce flavored rice is also infused with the flavor of the crab, and the synergistic effect doubles the flavor of the crab. The rice and the crab meat alone will keep you coming back for more.

And then there is the crab claw meat served on top, which not only tastes as good as it looks, but also gives you the luxury of eating crab meat. As you continue to eat, you will find yourself wanting more! But that’s enough for an ekiben.

The side dishes include the standard makunouchi side dishes such as simmered dishes, grilled fish, and sukiyaki-style meat stew. The side dishes are not all crab, but the presence of makunouchi style side dishes will keep you from getting bored of eating them.

Among them, the simmered dishes and ganmodoki, which are soaked in dashi broth, are not only meant to change the flavor, but also go well with the crab rice, enhancing each other’s deliciousness. The quantity of the dish is also generous, so those who want to eat a lot will be satisfied.

Crab season will be in full swing from now on, and if you are a crab lover, this is a must-have ekiben.
