Traffic congestion forecast for the Tokyo Metropolitan Expressway during the year-end and New Year’s holidays; very congested on weekdays from December 18 to 26. Be careful on Bayshore Route and Aqualine.

The Metropolitan Expressway announced traffic congestion forecasts for the year-end and New Year holidays.

Traffic congestion is expected to be heavy on weekdays from December 18 to 26, and while it is generally expected to be less during the year-end and New Year period after December 27, traffic tends to be heavy on January 2 every year.

Especially on the Wangan Route, heavy traffic congestion is expected on January 2 and 3, especially on the Tokyo Aqualine. When heading to Haneda Airport from the Tokyo area during congestion on the Bayshore Route, drivers are advised to use the “Airport West Exit” on the No. 1 Haneda Route and to take an early restroom break at the Oi Parking Area.

Since conditions are affected by weather, traffic accidents, and other factors, the company recommends checking the latest traffic conditions on the “mew-ti” road traffic information website before departure.
