Rakuten Stay will hold the grand opening of “Rakuten STAY VILLA Yufuin Onsen” (899-35 Kawakita, Yufuin-cho, Yufu City, Oita Prefecture) on February 27. We had the opportunity to stay at the facility on a trial basis prior to the opening, and would like to report on its features in this report. Rakuten STAY, Rakuten Group’s lodging brand, offers various types of lodging facilities nationwide, including detached “Houses” and garage-house “Motels. The “Rakuten STAY VILLA Yufuin Onsen” is a “VILLA” type accommodation facility consisting of three connected buildings and 17 independent buildings, for a total of 20 rooms. Yufuin Onsen is known as Japan’s number one hot spring prefecture, and ranks first in both the number of hot springs and the amount of hot spring water that flows out of the prefecture. The facility we visited this time is conveniently located about 6 minutes by cab from JR Yufuin Station, which can be said to be the gateway to this hot spring resort, but its quiet environment, free from the hustle and bustle of the station, is very attractive, and the view of Mt. The Yufuin Interchange on the Oita Expressway is only 2 minutes away from the facility, so you will not feel inconvenienced whether you use public transportation, your own car, or a rental car. Rooms range in size from 61 to 103m2 per building, and there are four room types: “A type” with a two-story building and a capacity of 10 persons, “B type” with a separate building and a capacity of 8 persons, “C type” with a one-story house and a capacity of 6 persons, and “D type” with a one-story house and a capacity of 4 persons. All have a natural hot spring from their own source, sauna, and terrace, and prices start at 54,000 yen for Type A and B, and 45,000 yen for Type C and D (with tax). One room in Type A and four rooms in Type D are “dog-friendly rooms” equipped with a foot-washing faucet next to the entrance, a cage, food bowl, and bed, so you can stay with your dog.

After entering the room with a password issued at the time of reservation, guests can check in and check out using a tablet provided in the room. Guests can register their guest information on the website in advance and have a QR code issued, then simply hold up the QR code when checking in. Checking out is as easy as a single click. In addition, parking for two cars per building is provided for A and B types, and one car per building for C and D types, with power supply facilities for three EVs and a wheelchair-priority space for one car.
