JR Tokai Retailing Plus has signed a franchise agreement with Grit International to operate a store in Japan for Randy’s Donuts, a popular doughnut store in Los Angeles, and on December 9 will open a “Randy’s Donuts Tokyo Gift Palette Store” in Tokyo Station on December 9.
More than 40 types of doughnuts (from 360 yen to 580 yen per doughnut) as well as T-shirts and other related goods are available. They are not only souvenirs for returning home, but can also be easily savored on the Shinkansen train when traveling or on a business trip.
To celebrate the grand opening, the Tokyo Gift Palette store will offer three limited edition doughnuts: “Orange Texas Blue White Sprinkles” (580 yen), “White Chocolate Holiday Season Raised” (550 yen), and “Strawberry Klondie” (550 yen), as well as a limited quantity of commemorative goods called ” Takeout Bag Blue (S)” (1,200 yen), available from December 9.
In addition, an opening campaign will be held for three days only from the first day of the event, with the first 100 customers each day receiving one of the most popular “Glazed” (360 yen).
Examples of the grand menu include “Glazed Raised,” the most popular classic with its soft and light texture, “Cinnamon Sugar Twist” with its twisted shape, and “Matcha Raised” with its bittersweet taste.
The premium type, with toppings that are more voluminous and upscale than the classics, includes “S’mores Raised” with baked marshmallows, “Chocolate Candy Raised” with lots of colorful chocolate, and “Bacon Maple Long John” with salty, crispy bacon.
The lineup also includes a “Variety Mix Set” that includes four types of mini doughnuts measuring approximately 5 cm in diameter.
Randy’s Doughnuts Shibuya Daikanyama Store opened in May of this year, and Randy’s Doughnuts Shinjuku Itourmine Store opened in September. The first franchise store, “Randy’s Donuts Tokyo Gift Palette Store,” is a takeout specialty store located in the “Tokyo Gift Palette” just outside the Yaesu North Exit ticket gates of Tokyo Station, one of Japan’s major transportation hubs.
JR Tokai Retailing Plus also plans to open new stores in areas along the Tokaido Shinkansen line and at commercial facilities.
