JR West Miyajima Ferry will launch a new vessel, the “Misen Maru,” which operates on the Miyajima route, on March 19. The 10:40 a.m. departure from Miyajima will be the first flight in operation.
It was introduced to replace the current Misen Maru, which entered service in 1996. It has a passenger capacity of 700 (500 when loaded with cars) and can carry 10 vehicles.
With the introduction of the new vessel, all of the vessels in operation will be barrier-free. The interior of the ship is designed to resemble a train, based on the concept of a “train running on the sea.
