Daiwa House Industry Co., Ltd. announced plans to start construction on February 6 and complete construction in August for the “Nigiwai (lively) Facility” to be established as part of the “Toyama City Public Local Wholesale Market Redevelopment Project. The entire facility, including the market, is scheduled to open in the fall of 2026.
In this project, the Toyama City Public Local Wholesale Market (500 Kakeo-machi, Toyama City, Toyama Prefecture) is being rebuilt, and the facility is being downsized and commercial facilities are being developed on the surplus land. The plan is to build a new “Nigiwai Facility” as a complex facility for food, beverage, and merchandise sales, along with an electronics retail store and a supermarket.
The facility will be structured to accommodate up to 18 stores, with the aim of attracting popular restaurants offering seafood rice bowls, set menus, and ramen noodles, in addition to fresh food and processed food retailers. The interior will be designed to resemble a retro Showa-era townscape, and events in conjunction with the market are also being considered.
