MHI Signs Yen Loan Agreement with Uzbekistan: Contributing to the Promotion of the Livestock Industry and Food Security by Providing Project Financing to Farmers and Related Companies Engaged in Livestock Production and Equipment to Strengthen Capacity for Livestock Disease Diagnosis and Food Safety Inspection | News & PR

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Loan Agreement (L/A) with the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan on December 17 in Tokyo for the “Livestock Production Promotion and Livestock Sanitation Enhancement Project”. The L/A was signed by Mr. Raziz Kudratov, Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Mr. Akihiko Tanaka, President of JICA.

This project will also strengthen livestock sanitation in Uzbekistan by utilizing Japan’s strengths in livestock disease diagnosis and food safety inspection technology, and will help protect Japanese livestock production from the threat of transboundary livestock infectious diseases.

Business Objectives

This project aims to improve the accessibility of financing for livestock farmers and related companies and to strengthen livestock sanitation by providing funds to livestock farmers and livestock-related companies via financial institutions, providing equipment to the Center for Animal Disease Diagnosis and Food Safety, and strengthening the capacity of livestock farmers, related companies, research institutions, and financial institutions to serve as intermediaries. This will contribute to the promotion of the livestock industry and food security.

(b) Introduction of equipment and materials to the Center for Animal Disease Diagnosis and Food Safety, such as chromatograph analyzers

(c) Consulting services (support related to procurement of materials and equipment, support for strengthening inspection capacity, support for strengthening examination capacity, support for strengthening production and management capacity, etc.)
