Kawasaki Daishi (4-48 Daishi-machi, Kawasaki-ku, Kawasaki-shi, Kanagawa Prefecture) has announced on its official Web site the traffic regulations for the first visit to the temple in 2026.
Vehicle traffic will be closed from 22:00 on New Year’s Eve to 19:00 on New Year’s Day, and from 10:00 to 19:00 on January 2 and 3 in a wide area around the temple grounds and Daishi Park. The Kawasaki Daishi Omotesando Street, which connects from Kawasaki Daishi Station, and the Higashimonzen Station Street and Daishi Main Street, which connect from Higashimonzen Station, will be closed to pedestrians only, and traffic will also be restricted during busy times until January 18.
Visitors are encouraged to use public transportation when visiting the shrine. For details, please check the regulation map of the area (PDF) on the official website.
In addition, between the main hall and the “Automobile Traffic Safety Prayer Hall” (1-1-1 Daishi Kawahara, Kawasaki-ku, Kawasaki-shi, Kanagawa Prefecture), visitors are requested to detour from the direction of Kawasaki Daishi Station so that they can turn left to enter the prayer hall until January 18. In addition, during the above-mentioned three-day restriction period, exits will also be left-turn only.
