Ryohin Keikaku will sequentially release “air mattresses” at some MUJI stores and online stores from January 14. The price is 6,990 yen.
This space-saving, lightweight mattress is inflated with air. The mattress can be inflated simply by stepping on the built-in pump, eliminating the need for a separate inflating tool, and when not in use, the air can be removed and placed in a special storage bag for compact portability. When not in use, the air can be removed and the mattress can be placed in a special storage bag for compact transportation. The mattress requires no accessories so that it can be used alone in times of disaster or other emergencies.
It measures approximately 70 x 196 x 10 cm (W x D x H; the height of the pillow portion is approximately 15 cm). The material used is flexible and durable TPU (thermoplastic resistant polyurethane). The upper part of the mattress, where the head rests, is thicker, integrating the mattress and pillow into a single unit.
Since it can be easily used as a mattress by inflating it only when necessary, it can be used in a wide range of situations, such as for napping, outdoor activities, overnight stays in a car, for guests, and as a disaster prevention measure. The product is sold folded up in the store, making it easy to take home.
