Gala-Yuzawa Ski Resort revives night skiing for the first time in 30 years! Joetsu Shinkansen Line to operate a special train to Tokyo for 4 days only in March and April.

Gala Yuzawa will revive night skiing at Gala Yuzawa Ski Resort (1039 Kayadaira, Yuzawa, Yuzawa-machi, Minamiuonuma-gun, Niigata Prefecture) for the first time in 30 years. The dates are March 14, 21, 28, and April 4, and the hours of operation will be from 16:30 to 20:00 (last lift service at 19:30).

Night skiing tickets cost 3,000 yen for adults and 1,500 yen for elementary school students. The course to be skied is the Central Area Entertainment Course, and the lifts to be operated are the Barouche. In addition to skiing, snowboarding, and other winter sports and activities (advance reservations required), visitors are recommended to enjoy the night view from the Love Bell Observation Deck and the Night Gondola, or have a relaxing dinner at one of the restaurants.

From March 14 to April 4, the “Sky Lantern” event will be held every day at 19:00, and on April 4, fireworks will be launched at 19:50 in the plaza in front of the summit rest house “Cheers”.

On the way back, visitors can take the Joetsu Shinkansen departing from Gala-Yuzawa Station for Tokyo or a free shuttle bus that runs to Echigo Yuzawa Station. The Joetsu Shinkansen is scheduled to operate a number of extra trains between Tokyo/Ueno and Gala-Yuzawa, including the “Tanigawa No. 198” departing Gala-Yuzawa (20:19) and arriving at Tokyo (21:40).

JR East View Tourism & Sales is offering a special plan that includes a round-trip Shinkansen bullet train and a night ticket, starting January 16 at 2:00 pm.
