Universal Studios Japan opened “Universal Cool Japan 2026,” an event bringing together Japanese entertainment brands on January 30.
This year, three new attractions will allow visitors to enjoy the world of “Detective Conan. One of them is the “Detective Conan Mystery Restaurant,” where you can enjoy an authentic French course meal while immersing yourself in mystery and music, creating a new sense of entertainment. The storyline and menu have been revamped, so I went to experience it firsthand.
The story takes place shortly before the birth of “Conan Edogawa,” and the main cast includes Shinichi Kudo, Ran Mouri, and Sonoko Suzuki. While our guests are dining at “Della Diva,” an upscale restaurant famous for its live music, Takito, the host, and Lulu, a diva who was once popular with a masked band, appear on the stage. A short time later, Shinichi, Ran, Sonoko and the others arrive at the restaurant.
While there was a feeling that some kind of incident was about to happen, a performance by Lulu, the diva, unfolded. The restaurant is abuzz with excitement as she performs popular numbers, mainly Western music, in an overwhelming live performance. The characters visit each table and come right up to you, giving you the feeling that you are in the world of the story.
During the live performance, there will be a “glass harp” experience corner, where you can make musical scales by filling a wine glass with water, and a photo opportunity with Shinichi, Ran, Sonoko, and others.
Such a pleasant atmosphere changed drastically. Suddenly, the restaurant went completely dark! The diva’s precious brooch was stolen during a live performance. Who stole it, and for what? The guests at the restaurant watch the investigation with the help of Shinichi, Ran, Sonoko and the others.
In addition to a live singing performance littered with clues, the climax is a raging battle of deductions and tense action. Will you be able to break the true culprit’s plan and lead him to the solution of the case?
The last song is the main theme song of “Detective Conan” sung by the diva. Don’t miss the heartrending scene as if you were witnessing a scene of Shinichi and Ran’s youth in the old days.
The venue is Lomber’s Landing, San Francisco area. The tour takes 1 hour and 20 minutes, including meals. A special ticket is required for the experience. The price is 7,000 yen for adults and 2,600 yen for children.
The meal you are interested in is a creative French course that is perfect for a classical setting. You can choose “meat” or “fish” for the main dish at the restaurant on the day of the event.
