Can JR West’s technology be sold more and more externally?
It goes without saying that JR West is a railroad company. However, it is not well known that JR West is not only a railway company, but that it also obtains know-how from various industries for transporting people and considering safety, while also selling it to outside parties.
At the “Innovation & Challenge Day” held at Grand Front Osaka on January 27-28, visitors were able to see the initiatives that JR West is focusing on, as well as exhibits that showcase the technologies of about 30 group companies.
JR-West has gained a wide range of experience in “urban development,” “MaaS,” and “environmental friendliness” through its railroad business operations. JR-West has also brought in a number of companies with advanced technologies to the group, and many of these know-how and innovations (innovative technologies) can be sold externally, not only to other railroad companies, but also to various industries.
Some of the companies that visited the exhibition were interested in the technologies of the group companies and talked with their representatives for a long time. What kind of technologies and initiatives were being promoted at this year’s “Innovation & Challenge Day”?
