MUJI to launch wireless headphones. I tried them out for 6,900 yen with noise cancellation.

Ryohin Keikaku held the MUJI 2026 Spring/Summer New Product Exhibition. This term, the company is strengthening the development of audio products such as earphones and speakers. All of these products are scheduled to go on sale in early July.

The “Wireless Headphones with Noise Canceling Function” (white/gray, 6,990 yen each) are particularly noteworthy, weighing approximately 244 grams for a lightweight feel, and feature an active noise canceling function despite their affordable price of less than 7,000 yen.

Continuous playback time is 42 hours with and 72 hours without noise cancellation. When we tested the system with noise cancellation, it was so effective in cutting through the noise that we could not hear the buzzing conversation in the hall or the calls of the person in charge who was nearby.

When we played a sample track of only instrumental music, such as jazz, the bass seemed a little weak, but we did not notice the stifling or piercing sound that is often found in inexpensive products. We recommend this product to those who want to test whether headphones are necessary for their lifestyle or not.

Wired earphones have been available for some time, but fully wireless earphones have finally made their appearance. Two types of earbuds will be available: an “inner-ear type” that snugly adheres to the ear, and a “canal type” that allows moderate outside sound to be heard. Like the headphones, they come in two colors, white and gray, and are priced at 2,990 yen each.

Two types of splash-proof wireless speakers, a portable type (3,990 yen) and a compact type (2,990 yen), are also new. The portable type can make calls with its built-in microphone. The compact speaker can also play in stereo when two units are used simultaneously.

In addition, a mobile battery that can also be used as a smartphone stand is also being developed. Two capacities are available: 5000mAh and 10000mAh (from 3,990 yen, scheduled to go on sale in late June). They are Qi2 (Qi2) certified for magnetic wireless charging.
