International Emergency Relief Aid for Torrential Rains in the Republic of Mozambique | News

In response to a request from the government of the Republic of Mozambique, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will provide emergency relief supplies as follows.

Situation of the disaster

Heavy rains in Mozambique since the end of 2025 have caused flooding mainly in the southern Gaza Province, resulting in enormous human suffering in the affected areas.

There has been both physical and material damage.

Damage as of January 21 (as announced by the Mozambican government)

Death toll 122

Affected people: approx. 680,000

Flooded housing 82,609 units

Totally destroyed housing 4,971 units

2. details of the provision of supplies

(1) Emergency relief supplies (JICA Dubai warehouse)

plastic container (e.g. gas can, water can or similar)

water filter

(2) Transportation schedule

Coordinating transportation to Maputo by close air.
