Toei Bus to conduct demonstration test of automatic operation Lv2 between Shin-Kiba and Miraikan; first-come, first-served reservations from Feb. 16.

As part of its efforts to implement automated driving technology, the Tokyo Metropolitan Transportation Bureau will conduct a demonstration experiment using a large bus that operates on a portion of an existing bus route from March 1 to 13 (service will be suspended on March 3 and 10). The route is between Shinkiba Station and the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan), and is expected to take about 30 minutes each way, with four round trips per day.

The vehicle used is Isuzu Motors’ large route bus “ERGA. The experiment will be conducted under “Level 2 automatic operation,” with the system switching to manual operation depending on the situation while the driver is still on board.

Advance reservations are required through the website, and the ride experience is free of charge. Reservations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 2:00 p.m. on February 16.
