JR Hokkaido will move up the last train on the 28th and 29th. Some express trains, including “Rapid Airport” to/from New Chitose Airport, will be cancelled due to record snowfall.

JR Hokkaido will move up the last train on January 28-29 and cancel all trains departing from and arriving at Sapporo after 9:00 p.m. to allow time for snow removal.

Due to the record snowfall and low temperatures that have been occurring in the Sapporo area since January 25, snow removal work cannot be completed only during the nighttime hours after the end of service, and many trains have been suspended or delayed every day. The service is expected to be suspended during the daytime and the next morning as well due to train operational reasons.

The last trains between Sapporo and New Chitose Airport will be the rapid “Airport 174” departing Sapporo at 20:04 for New Chitose Airport and the special rapid “Airport 173” departing New Chitose Airport at 20:47 for Sapporo (with temporary stops at Chitose, Eniwa, Kitahiroshima and Shiroishi).

Some limited express trains, including the Lilac, Hokuto, and Oozora, will also be suspended from the 28th to the 30th, but no substitute transportation will be provided.
