Izumo-taisha Shrine, there will be traffic restrictions around the area on three days in 2026. Ichibata Railway will increase train service.

Izumo-taisha Shrine (195 Kitsuki-higashi, Taisha-cho, Izumo City, Shimane Prefecture) has posted information on its official website regarding traffic restrictions for the Hatsumode (New Year’s visit) in 2026.

From 10:00 p.m. on December 31 to 4:00 p.m. on January 1 and from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day from December 1 to 3, the roads around the Museum of Ancient Izumo History (which is closed) will be partially operated as one-way streets. Also, from the 1st to the 3rd, left-turn entry to the Izumo Grand Shrine parking lot from the Inasa intersection (ocean side) will be prohibited, and right-turn entry from the Sedame intersection (in front of the Otorii gate) will be required (except for buses and cabs).

The Ichibata Railway, which runs to the nearest Izumo Taisha Station, will increase its service on Sangatsu (New Year’s Day) as a special New Year’s timetable. The schedule is available on the website.
