Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, open all day on three days for Hatsumode in 2026. Parking lot and station area will be closed to traffic, Nishitetsu will operate all night.

Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine (4-7-1, Zaifu, Dazaifu City, Fukuoka Prefecture) provides information on its official website regarding Hatsumode for the year 2026.

The gates will be open day and night from 6:30 a.m. on December 31 to 9:00 p.m. on January 4 for the conferment of charms and talismans and the writing of red seals, etc. After December 5, the gates will open at 6:30 a.m. and close at 6:30 p.m. daily.

Traffic regulations will be enforced from 23:00 on December 31 to 18:00 on January 1, and from 9:00 to 18:00 on January 2 and 3. The area between Dazaifu Station and the temple grounds will be a pedestrian-only street, and one-way traffic will be allowed near the parking lot along the Mikasa River. In order to reduce congestion on the roads, people are encouraged to use public transportation for their Hatsumode (New Year’s visit). Nishi-Nippon Railroad will operate an all-night service to Dazaifu Station on New Year’s Eve, as well as the “Hatsumode-go” direct express train from Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station to Dazaifu Station on the third day of the New Year. In addition, a park-and-ride parking lot is located near Tofurou Minami Station.
