Atsuta Jingu Shrine, Hatsumode 2026, traffic control in the area until the 5th. Parking lots will be closed until the morning of the 19th.

Atsuta Jingu Shrine (1-1-1 Jingu, Atsuta-ku, Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture) and Atsuta Police Station inform about the traffic regulation for the first visit to the shrine in 2026.

From 11:00 on New Year’s Eve to 3:00 on New Year’s Day and from 8:30 to 15:30 on Sangha Day, Prefectural Route 226 from Atsuta Station and Jingumae Station to the shrine grounds and its vicinity will be closed to vehicular traffic. The area around the south gate of Atsuta Jingu Shrine will be closed to pedestrians from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on January 4 and 5, and all day until Sangatsu.

Although visitors can visit the temple all day during the year-end and New Year’s holidays, all parking lots on the temple grounds are closed from 5:00 p.m. on December 31st to the morning of January 19th. On the third Sunday of the month, a temporary parking lot will be set up on the west side of Atsuta Station. Vehicle exorcisms will be accepted from the 16th. The restricted areas and temporary parking lots are described in detail in the guide map (PDF).

Visitors are encouraged to use public transportation to visit the shrine. The Meijo Line of the Nagoya Municipal Subway, where the Atsuta Jingu Nishi Station is located, will operate all night every 30 minutes on New Year’s Eve. City buses will be temporarily relocated due to traffic restrictions. For details, please refer to the guide map (PDF) provided by the Nagoya City Transportation Bureau.
