TESCOM Electric, a member of the Elecom Group, is pre-selling HUG AIR, a 3-way pet dryer that can be used with both hands, through the support purchase service “Makeake. The planned general sales price is 16,980 yen, but the super early bird discount is 20% off at 13,500 yen.
It features a “flexible holder” that can be hung around the neck or shoulder, allowing the user to use both hands freely to dry pet hair. The holder can be freely changed in shape, and can be placed on a tabletop as a stand, or detached and used as a handheld type, allowing for 3-way use (hands-free, stand, or handheld) depending on the situation.
The hands-free style is used by hanging the included flexible holder around one’s neck or shoulder. This eliminates the need to hold the main body of the dryer, leaving both hands completely free. They can hang it around their neck and use both hands to quickly dry their hair from the roots while skinning.
In the stand style, the flexible holder is bent to form a base and placed on a flat surface such as the floor or a table. The holder is made of silicone material to prevent slipping, and the angle and height can be freely adjusted. Placed on the floor, it can be used to dry difficult-to-dry areas such as the stomach area or while holding the baby.
In the handy style, the holder is removed and the main body of the dryer is held directly by hand. The main unit weighs only about 380g and has a straight, compact design for easy handling. The holder can be removed to pinpoint details such as the toes and face area.
The main body of the dryer is lightweight, yet the brushless motor delivers powerful airflow. The air volume can be adjusted in two levels, and the temperature can be adjusted in four levels: cold, warm (low, medium, and high), and the LED color allows the user to check the temperature setting at a glance. The negative ion function is said to reduce static electricity during drying and make the hair shiny.
The inlet port has a double 0.15 mm high-density filter to prevent pet hair and dust from entering. The filter cover is magnetic for easy cleaning. Other safety features include a design that reduces the risk of disconnection at the base of the power cord and an automatic shut-off function in the event of abnormal heat generation.
