Nagoya Station Area Redevelopment Plan: Start of Construction and Completion Date Revisited. Construction bidders withdrew from the project, and the cost and timeframe increased significantly, so the plan was re-examined.

Nagoya Railroad announced that it will begin re-examining and reviewing its “Nagoya Station Area Redevelopment Plan” and “Meitetsu Nagoya Station Redevelopment Plan,” with the start and completion dates of both plans yet to be determined.

In November, a participant in the bidding process for the construction of the project withdrew its bid due to difficulties in establishing a construction system capable of handling the project. Since both the estimated construction cost and construction period are expected to increase significantly from the initial estimates, the schedule will be changed and the plan itself will be re-examined.

The company announced the commercialization of both plans in May, and also announced that it aims to start construction of the new building in 2027, complete the first phase of main construction in 2033, and complete the second phase of main construction in the early 2040s.

The company will consult with the joint operators and make an announcement as soon as the direction of the review is finalized. While the closing date of the Meitetsu Department Store Main Store will remain unchanged from the originally scheduled February 28, 2026, the business plans for the Meitetsu Bus Center, Meitetsu Grand Hotel, Sky Parking, and other facilities have not yet been decided.
