Miffy 70th Anniversary Exhibition” in Fukuoka. More than 200 items, including original drawings from his first visit to Japan, and tickets go on sale January 10.

Fukuoka Mitsukoshi (2-1-1 Tenjin, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City) will hold the “70th Birthday Anniversary Miffy Exhibition” (organized by the Nishinippon Shimbun and others, supported by the Royal Netherlands Embassy) at the 9th floor Mitsukoshi Gallery. The exhibition will run from February 28 to March 29, 2026, with tickets going on sale January 10.

Under the theme of “More, More, Miffy,” original drawings and sketches of all 32 picture books in the “Miffy” series, which celebrated 70 years since its birth in 1955, will be exhibited for the first time in Japan. The exhibition will also feature over 200 works and materials, including original drawings of “Usako-chan Otomari ni Iku” (1988) and “Usako-chan no Daisuki na Obaachan” (1996), both of which are in Japan for the first time, as well as paintings, paperback bindings, poster designs, and other works by the creator, Dick Bruna, in his early years.

In addition, for the first time in 20 years, the video of Bruna reading “Usakochan to Umi” in Dutch, which was introduced at the “Miffy Exhibition” held in 2005, will be shown again. The gentle yet humorous voice of Ms. Bruna allows viewers to experience the sound of the story in the original language.

The exhibition will be held at the Tokyo venue (Matsuya Ginza) in April 2025, and will tour the country until 2026. Please check the official website for details.
