Background and Objectives

…Emerging economies lack the venture investment and PE funding that is essential for the expansion of new technologies such as carbon removal, climate smart agriculture, and adaptive technologies. This event aims to explore investment models that balance risk-return and development impact and showcase successful agri-tech companies and carbon capture projects from around the world. In addition, ways to accelerate capital inflows through ecosystem building, regulatory risk reduction, and blended finance were discussed.

Contents

Mr. Takahashi, JICA’s Chief Research Officer, introduced JICA’s blended finance initiatives as well as examples of support for the creation of start-up ecosystems through technical cooperation.

Other panelists discussed measures to integrate both climate resilience and social impact, renewable energy as a growth sector, storage batteries, sustainable agriculture, and water management.

As a concrete example, he shared a case study of cooperation between investors and off-takers in a biomethane project in Brazil.
