On December 8, Saitama Prefecture announced the completion of a 1.3-km section of urban planning road Loop Route 1 from the Aoyama area in Ogawa-cho to the Koshigoe area in Ogawa-cho, which will open to traffic at 15:00 on February 7, 2026.
Loop Route 1 is a 6.6-km urban planning road that, together with the National Route 254 bypass, circles the Ogawa-machi central area centering on Ogawa-machi Station on the Tobu Tojo Line. When combined with the sections already open to traffic, a total of 5.3 km of the road will be completed.
The project is expected to improve traffic safety by strengthening the road network, easing traffic congestion and improving disaster prevention functions, as well as by securing wide sidewalks. A commemorative ceremony is scheduled to be held on the opening day (February 7) from 10:00 a.m. at a special site in the Aoyama area of Ogawa Town.
